on thursday the helsinki city planning department open their new exhibtion space right in the centre of the city. its located in the old bus terminal (between kamppi shopping centre and lasipalatsi). this summer sees an exhibition of future public transport proposals.
tomorrow ireland gets a new taoiseach (prime minister), brian cowen and he will meet gordon brown at some stage in the near future.
for that meeting some paper somewhere will have the photo caption / headline: “how now brown cowen”
suddenly almost overnight the country has turned green. there are leaves where there weren’t leaves before.
ive been following the construction of the mt100 road project here in helsinki - a few times a week i take a bus that passed a big hole that in time will hold a tunnel. the tunnel is being built in segments to accommodate the need for regular traffic to still pass the very busy crossroads.
the pdf documents on the tiehallinto website give lots of information but they lack a context to them.
ive taken those pdfs and converted them to png format and added them to my server and you can view them here:
google maps: view map
google earth: click here and open the file in google earth. (the png files are a total of 2,6mb)

helsingin sanomat article (in finnish) about the ruskeasuo traffic changes. a motorcyclist was killed at the crossing on tuesday.
gigs coming up:
may: the national, broken social scene
june: mgmt, håkan hellström
july: björk
august: sigur rós (somewhere in europe)
listening to “unravel” by björk lots at the moment. i bought the album years ago (i think its currently at home in ireland in a press), i recently rediscovered the album and found myself obsessed by the music of unravel. its just astounding and hypnotic.
currently planning summer.
update:
may: ulrich schnauss
june: bonnie prince billy
i really could watch this video on vimeo about vimeo all day long. astounding.
i spent the last while upgrading most of the code behind the static pages on sigur-ros.co.uk - nice when things dont break and i also get to learn some stuff.
(dont ask me to define “while”)
