bermuda helsinki hosted an outdoor cinema in konttiaukio in kalasatama last weekend. i managed to watch (and enjoy) kaurismäki’s “the man without a past” (mies vallila menneisyyttä) without subtitles.

a postcard from a finnish film/documentary called “jäävuoren varjoon” (the iceberg shadow). i saw the film with some friends last month in a small makeshift cinema in kallio – the film is about a film-maker who finds a collection of 8mm films reels in a flea market, he watches them and tries to find out more about the person who shot the movie. a fantastic film. today eight years ago i landed in helsinki, today four years ago i moved properly into where i am now and away from the main reason i moved here. my time in helsinki has seemed really strange on occasion. its such a wonderful city, full of amazing people but sometimes it feels like a dream – as if i just arrived yesterday, a year ago, two years ago, five years ago.
