im here listening to one of my friends dj'ing on a radio station (powerfm) in dublin. some good stuff being played. check it out. (wm9 broadband link) every saturday 18-20 dublin time (same as gmt)
wahoo. just booked tickets home for ten days in costa del éire*. gonna be great.
march 18th to 28th.
(costa del éire = ireland)
i hate these evenings when i get nothing done.
three days after i ordered two books (3d max 5 bible and the fantastically titled "3d max 5 for dummies (for dummies)") both arrived all the way from amazon.co.uk!. good work. now i have to go start studying the programme. doh.
(im also nervously looking at the 3d max 2 book that is sitting on the shelf, unopened, beside me that i bought sometime in '99).
last night was the opening of the exhibiton that i mentioned yesterday. it was a fantastic night, two other shows were opening at the same time. one was a show on the fabrics/clothes that were from the time when the silk road was flourishing. the other show was based on some very very eqsuisate dresses from (i think) a helsinki designer.
anyway, here are some pics from syöpä, clothes go on sale in some helsinki shops sometime soon, and online now i think. www.syopa.net

the space was made from heavy duty cardboard, stuck together to give an eclosed space inside a much larger auditorium. so the floor, walls and ceilings were just cardboard (one or two pairs of stilletoes were heard cracking though the top of the cardboard). try to check it out, its there till mid feb.
in a few hours there is an exhibition/charity fund raiser opening in the design museum here in helsinki. its for the cancer organisation of finland. pictures have been taken, clothes have been designed, spaces have been constructed and words thought up to match them all. so its all coming together to raise money and is open for about three weeks.
the photos i took yesterday (sunday) are from a new lot i put online aswell. go here to see them: 2004.01.18 helsinki
one of the people in the office im in at the moment, anteeksi is doing her thesis at the moment, which involves putting self made flags on the outside of our building.

i found a new park, leninpuisto, that was hidden in behind the linnanmäki theme park

a nice walk on a sunday morning in and around alppi.

the last few weeks working with archicad have gone really well. doing a lot more after only three weeks than i thought i would at this stage. next up: 3dmax 5.
archicad has turned out to be a bit of a revalation. after spending the last eight years or so working in autocad and getting to know it very well, i scoffed a little bit at archicad, thinking of it only as some sort of light version of a cad programme. but its turned out to be fantastic. it does have some limitations, but for what its lacking in some areas, it more than makes up for it in other ways. no more endlessly changing multiple drawings; in archicad one change in a plan for example works its way through to the elevations, sections, 3d model and so on. this työharjoitellu is turning out to be fantastic. seven weeks left. doh.
if i had some disposable income these days, i would perhaps get some of the super cool mp3s from warped records new online shop.| bleep music has no drm or copy protection built in. we believe that most people like to be treated as customers and not potential criminals - drm is easily circumvented and just puts obstacles in the way of enjoying music. |
they have lots of good stuff from luke vibert and aphex twin and chris morris and things along those lines. good work

one of the sigur rós files (viðrar vel til loftárása) im hosting for sigur-ros.co.uk was downloaded almost 70000 times (that alone was 150gb). pretty crazy. altogether, the sigur rós part of my site took up 302gb out of 308gb total traffic. so when we get our new servers for sigur-ros.co.uk (soon) this site should be a bit quicker with all that traffic gone. also, this blog was viewed 12000 times. really crazy!.
i love the super furry animals. they cant write a bad song. (if they have, then ive erased it from my mind). so for christmas i bought päivi the "phantom power" dvd. we already had the album, but going from the quality of their last dvd "rings around the world" i decided to splash out and get it.
i shouldnt. it is dreadful. the music part of it is fantastic. but the extras are woefull, the videos can be viewed two different ways, each way producing two different boring videos. two thumbs down. left this reviewer feeling cheated. boo.
