i am watching the (pretty awful) opening ceremony of the world athletics championships that are taking place right now here in helsinki. when i look out the sitting room window i can see the sky changing colours, then a second or so later the tv screen changes to the same hue. (i live under 1km from the olympic stadium).

earlier i went and walked around the stadium. i was expecting the security zone around the stadium to be impossible to pass – but it was really easy. there was no real restrictions for non ticket holders (apart from the actual venue). anyhoo pictures from today are here. then it was warm and the sun was somehow peaking through the clouds. now it is raining heavily.
