the weather so far this summer has been pretty great, a few dodgy days here and there but nothing too bad. then thousands of tourists come into town for the athletics, and all hell breaks loose. it rained saturday evening (during the opening ceremony), i cant remember what it was like sunday, yesterday it rained pretty much all day, this morning it was hot hot and humid but just as the evening portion of the events (far more things happen in the evening than the morning portion) begin the clouds open and we have/are having an almighty thunderstorm out there. poor finnish tourist board.
extra: just after i wrote the above ramble, the storm went from a “10” all the way to a “11” and we were getting lightning flashes at the average rate of 1 every three seconds (1200ish per hour). poor mm kilpailu organisers.
extra two:
following requests from out television partners, the competition will re-commence at 8.45pm. (from the helsinki2005.fi website)
thats in four minutes time. keep an eye on telly when it does start up again to see all the puddles all over the stadium.
