At the road demonstration,
where local Palestinians are demonstrating against the 'Apartheid' Wall
that's being built on the border of The Occupied Territories and Israel.
The reason for the demonstation is because the wall is being built further
inside The Occupied Territories than it should be, and also because the
farmers now can't get from one side of their land to the other while the
wall is being built. We are there to demonstrate, to be in solidarity
with the Palestinians and to protect the Palestinians from the army |
 |
The brown strip of the path of the future wall can be seen splitting
farms in 2 |
 |
The Palestinians speak with the commander of the army to try to let
them continue farming their land while the wall is being built, he makes
an easy promise, but we think it is more to diffuse the demonstration
rather than give the Palestinians what they want |

 |
With
the checkpoint closed for the last 3 hours, another volunteer and I try
to persuade the soldiers to let people through, or at least give a reason
for closing the checkpoint, or give a time when it will be open again.
They ignore us, threaten us with arrest, and tell us we're meddling in
business that doesn't concern us |
